Fatal Car Accident Ejects South Carolina Teen from Vehicle

February 3, 2015

Greenville Online reports that a South Carolina teen died in a tragic accident earlier this month. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

The victim, who was just 17 years old, died at the scene. A local coroner working on the case says the young man died of blunt force trauma to his head.

According to police, the crash happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. near State Highway 11. The driver was heading south in a Honda Civic when the car appeared to veer off the roadway on the right side. The teen over-corrected, crossed the road and drove into the woods adjacent to the highway.

The car crashed into several trees, and the force of the impact ejected the driver from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Officials say the victim had been heading to school from his home.

Car Hits Man Inspecting His Vehicle on Interstate 77

WCNC reports that a vehicle hit a man who had gotten out of his car to check for damage from a crash that had happened moments before. The man died at the scene.

According to police, the accident happened at around 1 a.m. on Interstate 77. They believe the man stopped on the highway to examine his car after an earlier accident, and another vehicle failed to see him. A Hyundai travelling along the road crashed into the 61-year-old man as he was getting out of his own car.

Responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Police closed the roadway for several hours while they investigated the crash. Police are unlikely to charge the driver of the second vehicle as they do not believe he acted in a negligent manner.
